A few weeks back i was asked how i acclimate new saltwater fish for my aquarium.. well today i picked up a new Leopard wrasse!!!!! I have wanted one of these guys for a while now and finally got one!

Now before I even bought the fish i made sure to pre-inspect him to make sure he looked healthy and there was no signs of diseases.. I even let him sit at the shop for 3-4 weeks as a bit of QT to make sure he was issue free. Today i gave him another once over and even saw him go after food the second it was added.. i knew i had found a healthy fish!

How how to acclimate your new saltwater fish?
Start by floating the bag for 10-20 minutes.
Pour the fish into a new container
Add a scoop of tank water to the acclimation container..
Wait about 10 mintues then add another scoop.
Continue doing this until you have atleast doubled the volume of water.

By this time your fish should be adapated to your tanks paramaters.

Scoop out the new fish using a net to avoid mixing store water with your tank and add the little guy to your aquarium!

Its can also be a good idea to turn off the lights before adding the new fish to decrees stress of other tank mates.
